Chapter 164 Dance

Each weapon had its own purpose, just like a skill. Something was suitable for defense, something for attack, something for healing. However, some skills could change several aspects simultaneously under certain conditions.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Dozens of spiders approached Zayne, while his eyes were closed. Every skill he learned was possible to use intuitively, but, sometimes, it needed some preparation.

\'Shit... I had to practice, even though I didn\'t have time. Well, learning under stress is always the most effective way, isn\'t it?\' Zayne internally muttered before pulling his sword from the wall.

"Rark!" One of the spiders got close enough to open its jaw, wanting to swallow Zayne.

Perhaps Zayne would have been frightened by such a sight or instead would have reacted quickly, but now the situation was different, causing the spider to flinch as if its instincts were telling it to run.

Zayne\'s blue eyes became deep and dark like the moon hidden in the shadows, with no way to see its light. Then, Zayne\'s fist came down on the spider with such great force that the monster\'s body exploded from the tremendous pressure, with only a blood stain left on the wall.

Inside Zayne\'s eyes, a light appeared as well as a thin layer of blue energy enveloped his legs and hands.

"Fine... I think I\'m beginning to understand how this works." Zayne\'s voice echoed as his gaze fell on the nearest spider.

He attacked again, the spider\'s body pressed into the wall, not blown up, but it was still more than enough to kill the monster in one blow, which was much faster than the last.

"Speed... I need speed, and I know how to get it..." Zayne muttered as more light appeared in his gaze, and the layer of energy around his feet became denser.

Zayne clenched his sword tightly as scarlet wings appeared behind him. The scarlet wings came into motion, as Zayne lunged forward at breakneck speed, holding his sword in front of him.

The tip of the spear pierced one spider after another, passing through them like a broad knight\'s spear tearing them apart as dark drops of blood fell across his face.

Whoooooooooooosh.

Zayne climbed out of the pit, landing on his feet as the scarlet wings shattered into pieces, slowly disappearing.

"Three attacks... There are five more to go, right? Well, that might not be enough." Zayne exhaled cold steam, staring at the multitude of spiders, surrounding him as if he were their only target.

The spiders were in no hurry to attack, running quickly around, lifting their legs high and hissing, trying to scare Zayne, but all their attempts were crushed by his cold stare.

\'I don\'t really need strength, I was able to cut one spider in a simple move before, so I need to try to kill as many as I can in each attack.\' Zayne looked around, then he stepped forward.

At the same moment, a multitude of spiders began to act. Zayne was completely encircled, but he could see their every movement. During the fight, Zayne didn\'t realize it, but his eyes changed, they were stars from whose light it was impossible to hide.

Zayne\'s pupils narrowed as he jumped back and swung his sword sharply to the left, slicing several spiders apart. However, no sooner had he stopped than the others attacked him again.

\'Four more... Good, each time I feel more confident.\' Zayne pondered, choosing a spot for his next attack.

The spider\'s legs touched his shoulders as Zayne\'s silhouette disappeared.

A blue flash swept forward, destroying everything in its path. More than ten monsters left this world forever as their legs flew off to the side with bloody splashes.

\'Three more... but there aren\'t fewer of them at all. Where the hell are they coming from?\' Zayne inwardly muttered as a shadow fell over him from the spiders that blocked the light, covering Zayne with a dome of their bodies.

Step. Step. Step.

The man in the black cloak walked among the trees, staring intently at the ground as if he were searching for something there. With each step, he leaned on a wooden cane.

"Oh... Another one." The man smiled broadly as he bent down and picked the mushroom off the ground. He examined the mushroom from different angles.

"I knew it was worth coming here today, I\'ll make a delicious dinner out of it." The man smirked, then he turned and frowned slightly. He saw someone surrounded by dozens of spiders, ready to attack at any moment.

The man inhaled, "Well, if some people are lucky, others aren\'t, right? I don\'t know how he got here, but this is definitely the end for him." The man watched with a calm gaze as a spiders pounced on the young man, completely devouring him.

"Whatever, somebody dies here every day, it\'s no big deal." The man rubbed his gray hair, about to leave but suddenly his eyes grew slightly wider.

Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.

From the depths, a blue light appeared, then, dozens of spiders were chopped into small pieces as a silhouette jumped out. It was completely covered in blood, but its eyes were calm.

"Oh... So he didn\'t get lost. Did he come here on purpose? Maybe he\'s hunting for those spiders or that scolopendra?" The man tilted his head, rubbing his chin thoughtfully, "Well, those spiders are pretty annoying. Their cobwebs only get in the way."

The man shrugged his shoulders and walked off into the fog, disappearing into it.

...

Whoooooooooooosh.

Zayne\'s silhouette dissolved as he swept through several rows of spiders, in a circular trajectory, slicing them apart, quickly as a flash.

"Just one..." Zayne muttered with a heavy sigh. Only half of the spiders were left, but they kept moving toward Zayne as they realized he was tired.

"Agh... Well, it\'s time to reach maximum speed and minimum strength." Zayne said before stepping forward.

His eyes were full of light, no different from the two icy stars, not even the fog could hide it as much as the dense streams of blue energy emanating from his arms and legs. Now, they were wide enough to cover him completely, leaving a long trail behind them.
